The moisture content of activated carbon (ASTM D2867) is measured as weight loss after heating to 150°C and allowed to dry to constant weight (usually after 3 hours). The moisture content of packed activated carbon will generally increase during transport and storage. Users of activated carbon in applications where moisture can be critical should be aware of this! Moisture content, when packed, is usually less than 5%.
