ESH Manager

DESOTEC is looking for an Environmental Safety and Health (ESH) MANAGER to join our U.S. Team
In this role you will be responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment by proactively identifying risks, implementing safety policies, and fostering a culture of safety. The ESH Manager will oversee DESOTEC’s Health and Safety programs for our Red Bluff, California and Parker, Arizona facilities as well as mobile operations to achieve compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations as well as company policies and procedures. This role reports to the lead US QESH Manager and works closely with the Plant Managers in both locations. There will be intensive travel between the two facilities.
As the ESH Manager you will have the following tasks/responsibilities:
Core Responsibilities and Tasks
Develop and implement safety policies and procedures.
Create training programs to educate employees on established safety standards and practices.
Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
Stay updated on local, state, and federal safety regulations, and ensure the organization meets or exceeds these regulatory requirements.
Conducts risk assessments and identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
Ensure that all incidents and near misses are investigated to identify root causes and that proper corrective actions are implemented.
Promotes a proactive approach to safety throughout the organization focusing on leadership and employee engagement.
Ensures that relevant policies and procedures are current and in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
Provide guidance on the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Implementation and use of safe work permit programs (i.e., confined space, hot work, LOTO, JSAs, working from heights)
Routine inspections of safe work permit programs to determine effectiveness.
Coordinates all onboardings and annual physical assessments to maintain compliance with medical surveillance program, hearing conservation, and respiratory protection.
Conducts/organizes misc. trainings on quality, environmental, health and safety procedures. (e.g., forklift, confined space, LOTO, HAZWOPER, DOT HazMat, Arc flash) for the Red Bluff, Parker Facilities and mobile customer sites.
Maintain compliance with site-specific environmental permits, plans, and reporting obligations.
Facilitates environmental, health and safety (EHS) and compliance audits with the state and local agencies. Conducts EHS, and quality inspections and audits. Collaborates with team members to identify, prioritize, perform, and track corrective actions as needed.
Implement behavior based safety programs and processes to monitor and improve safety performance at the Red Bluff and Parker facilities.
Assist in management of change to ensure proper permitting, EHS procedures and PPE are implemented prior to startup.
Completes other duties as necessary to support the team and organizational objectives, as directed by the supervisor
Who are you as the ESH Manager?
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related Engineering or Science field *Preferred Associate or Certified Safety Professional or related
Minimum of four years of Environmental, Health and Safety or related experience
Experience in an industrial manufacturing/warehousing environment
Ability to influence at all levels of an organization.
Ability to establish, maintain and foster a positive and harmonious working relationship with stakeholders within the business.
Ability to adjust priorities and manage time wisely in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work independently and take initiative
Excellent communication skills, able to communicate effectively, including preparation and development of clear, concise and accurate reports.
Strong organizational and time management skills, able to work independently, handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Comfortable working in virtual environments with remote teams and across a broad set of stakeholders
Mature judgement and decision-making ability
Strong computer skills including proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint, online software platforms, with the ability to use spreadsheets and data analysis application
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work with and around chemical/industrial hazards
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, climb/descend stairs and ladders on a regular basis
Will work indoors and outdoors on a regular basis. Exposure to heat up to 115 degrees and to cold to 30 degrees
Will work in areas where exposure to dust, dirt, and areas of high noise levels requiring hearing protection
Must be able to bend, carry, reach, pull, and push up to 30 pounds on an occasional basis
Work surfaces will include concrete, asphalt, and carpet
Some travel to other DESOTEC locations including customer sites is required
